At the time of the book's release, art deco was at its pick and the style is deeply linked to the novel's themes. It reflects a mindset oriented by science, technology, social progress, luxury and hedonism, that's is reflected on the symmetry, geometrical shapes and the use of gold developed during the previous decades. That naturally led to the emergence of Eugenics, social Darwinism, totalitarism, social engineering and bioethical crimes.
